FAQ

How is the course content delivered? I’ve never taken an online course before.

Each week, you receive an email alerting you to one or more new course modules on the site, pages that contain tutorial videos, text, PDF’s, etc). You login to view the new modules, as well as those from previous weeks.  You can ask questions about the modules and interact with your fellow participants in the web forum/message board area.  You also get alerted about the date and time of each week’s live Q&A webinar.

Do I attend classes on a certain day or at a certain time?

Yes and no. The live webinars are scheduled each week, for example, Wednesday at 8pm or Thursday at 9 pm, depending on the schedule of the instructor and the preferences of those taking the course. But the content for each week’s new module can be accessed any time of the night or day; likewise, the discussion forum.

What if I miss stuff? I’m a busy person, I’ll have you know.

No biggie. The modules are always available. You can easily catch up, especially if you stay in from recess.

But what if I miss a live webinar?

Each week’s webinar is captured and archived so you can view them at your convenience.

How many times can I view the screencasts/tutorial videos?

As often as it takes to get them through your thick skull. heh.

Is there homework? I love/hate homework.

There’s no traditional-type homework (“Complete this assignment and then submit it for Professor Wigley to review.”) But when you see something new that’s interesting, you’ll likely want to experiment, report back on what happened, and maybe ask questions. Some people might call that homework.

Are there tests? Do I get a grade at the end?

No tests, no grade.  But we spend a lot of money on high quality emoticons that we plaster all over your work.

Will I have access to the modules, especially the screencasts/tutorial videos, when the course is over?

Although the web forum area will close at the end of the course, you will have access to the screencasts/tutorial videos (and any other module content) for a year.
